Anti-epidemic Fund 3.0 – Pyrotechnics and Special Effects Operators Subsidy Scheme is open for applications until 13 November - New

The Government has launched the Pyrotechnics and Special Effects Operators Subsidy Scheme under the Anti-epidemic Fund 3.0 to provide financial assistance to licensed special effects operators (SEO) or special effects assistants (SEA). Each successful applicant will be provided with a one-off subsidy of HK$7,500.  Same practitioner holding different types of SEO/SEA licences is eligible for a maximum subsidy amount of HK$7,500. 

Applicants must submit the completed application form together with necessary supporting documents for receipt by CreateHK on or before 13 November 2020. Further details are available in the Guidance Note.

Consultancy Study on Opinions of Employers on Performance of Creative Industries-related Programmes Graduates – Deadline for submission of completed questionnaires extended to 30 November - New

Commissioned by CreateHK, the Consultancy Study on Opinions of Employers on Performance of Creative Industries-related Programmes Graduates aims to collect and analyse employers’ opinions on the working performance of the graduates of local creative industries-related programmes to facilitate the Government to formulate initiatives that are conducive to the manpower development of Hong Kong’s creative industries.  

Employers or supervisors of the said graduates are invited to complete an online questionnaire. DEADLINE for returning the questionnaire is extended to: 30 November 2020.

Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan) – Opens for applications until 14 January 2021

Organised by CreateHK, the Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan) is open for applications. The application forms and details are available on the website of the Hong Kong Film Development Council (FDC). DEADLINE: 14 January 2021.

The Film Development Fund earmarks around $260 million to implement five major measures to energise Hong Kong films. In addition, the Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan), the others are –

  • Directors’ Succession Scheme;
  • Scriptwriting Incubation Programme;
  • short-term advanced training programmes; and
  • enhanced First Feature Film Initiative.

Anti-epidemic Fund – Financial assistance to PMQ tenants

Under the Government’s financial assistance to PMQ, rentals and fees payable by PMQ’s creative industries-related tenants are waived in full, and those payable by other tenants are reduced by 75%, from 1 May 2020 until the end of 2020.

19th Hong Kong - Asia Financing Forum (“HAF”) – Last call for submission of film projects - New

Sponsored by CreateHK,  the 19th HAF is calling for submission of full length feature film and documentary film projects with Asian elements or Asias in key creative roles such as directors and producers. Submission DEADLINE: 31 October 2020.

The HAF selects around 25 to 30 film projects each year for their filmmakers to meet with the film financiers, producers, distributors and buyers from different places at the financing forum. The 19th HAF is scheduled for 15 to 17 March 2021.

CineFest Series – Special in-theatre screenings until 5 November

Sponsored by CreateHK and the Film Development Fund (FDF), the CineFest Series feature films from the previously cancelled 44th Hong Kong International Film Festival and Cine Fan programmes with a series of special in-theatre screenings daily until 5 November 2020.

Ear Up Busking 2020: Music x Fashion Creative Scheme – Masterclasses by 17 local musicians available for FREE online viewing

Sponsored by CreateHK, the Ear Up Busking 2020: Music x Fashion Creative Scheme produced a series of masterclasses hosted by 17 local musicians, covering guitar, bass, keyboard, drum and vocal techniques. Videos of the all masterclasses are available on the project website for public’s FREE review in one go upon registration. More details are available on the project’s Facebook page.

The scheme organises online busking to unleash the creative talents of local emerging musicians and fashion designers. The participating music groups are provided with masterclass training, and some of them will also perform in an online finale concert tentatively scheduled for December in the outfits designed by the participating fashion designers.

The 7th Animation Support Programme – Screenings of local original animations until 28 October
