Scriptwriting Incubation Programme – Opens for applications starting from 15 August - New

Organised by CreateHK, the Scriptwriting Incubation Programme (SIP) accepts applications from 15 August to 14 October 2020.

The SIP, in the form of competition with coaching provided, aims at identifying and nurturing local scriptwriting talent to help incubate quality scripts, thereby enhancing the quality of Hong Kong productions. The application form and details are  available on the website of the Hong Kong Film Development Council (FDC) starting from 15 August.

The Film Development Fund earmarks around $260 million to implement  five major measures to energise Hong Kong films. In addition to the SIP, the others are – –

  • Directors’ Succession Scheme;
  • relaxation of the Film Production Financing Scheme;
  • short-term advanced training programmes; and
  • enhanced First Feature Film Initiative.

Consultancy Study on Opinions of Employers on Performance of Creative Industries-related Programmes Graduates – Deadline for submission of completed questionnaires extended to 31 August

Commissioned by CreateHK, the Consultancy Study on Opinions of Employers on Performance of Creative Industries-related Programmes Graduates aims to collect and analyse employers’ opinions on the working performance of the graduates of local creative industries-related programmes to facilitate the Government to formulate initiatives that are conducive to the manpower development of Hong Kong’s creative industries.  

Employers or supervisors of the said graduates are invited to complete an online questionnaire. DEADLINE for returning the questionnaire is extended to: 31 August 2020.

Anti-epidemic Fund – Cinemas Subsidy Scheme

The Government has established the Cinemas Subsidy Scheme to provide relief to cinema operators. CreateHK has received and finished processing applications from all eligible cinema operators (operating a total of 59 cinemas) by the application deadline on 30 April 2020.

Anti-epidemic Fund – Financial assistance to PMQ tenants

Under the Government’s financial assistance to PMQ, rentals and fees payable by PMQ’s creative industries-related tenants are waived in full, and those payable by other tenants are reduced by 75%, from 1 May 2020 until the end of 2020.

No Kidding! HKDA Kids Design Thinking Awards 2020 – Deadline for submissions of entries extended to 19 September - New

Sponsored by CreateHK, the No Kidding! HKDA Kids Design Thinking Awards 2020 is calling for FREE online submissions of entries in five categories from local primary students. Submission DEADLINE is extended to: 19 September 2020.

Concurrently, the project organises a series of workshops to introduce design thinking and nurture the creativity of primary students. The online workshops scheduled for August to September are calling for applications from local kids aged 6 to 12 and primary teachers on a first-come-first served basis.
