Organised by CreateHK, the “Light in Motion” Photo Exhibition of Hong Kong Movie 2021 is held in Guangzhou till 23 May 2021 to showcase the lights of Hong Kong movies shining in the past and the power of contemporary Hong Kong movies through the film stills and posters of two outstanding photographers from two generations, Ms Lo Yuk-ying and Ms Quist Tsang. Opens for FREE admission.

The photo exhibition is a programme of the Hong Kong Week 2021 @ Guangzhou.

Anti-epidemic Fund (AEF – Financial assistance to Hong Kong Book Fair 2020 exhibitors

The Government will allocate $10 million under the AEF to provide a one-off financial assistance of $15,000 to each local exhibitor registered with the twice-deferred Hong Kong Book Fair 2020 to help them explore the diversification of sales channels in addition to the Book Fair.

Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan) – Application deadline extended to 14 July

Organised by CreateHK, the Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan) (FPFS) is open for applications. The application forms and details are available on the website of the Hong Kong Film Development Council (FDC). DEADLINE is extended to: 14 July 2021.

Meanwhile, the Scriptwriting Incubation Programme (SIP) introduced under the Film Development Fund (FDF) has completed the assessment of Phase One and 45 works have been selected to enter Phase Two.

The SIP provides funding support to the respective winners of the different phases. A maximum of 10 final winning screenplays will eventually be selected. Cumulatively, each of the final winning screenplays will be awarded a total amount of $410,000.

The FDF earmarks around $260 million to implement five major measures to energise Hong Kong films. In addition to the FPFS and SIP, the others are –

  • Directors’ Succession Scheme;

  • short-term advanced training programmes; and

  • enhanced First Feature Film Initiative.

Promoting Hong Kong Comics by Establishing Ani-com Park@Harbour“FUN: Phase II” (“Ani-Com Park”) and Promoting Hong Kong Comics by establishing Avenue of Comic Stars (Phase 3) (“Avenue of Comic Stars Phase 3) – Open to public and visitors for FREE visit

Sponsored by CreateHK, the following projects are organised to set up creative landmarks to promote Hong Kong’s animation and comics sectors – 

  • Avenue of Comic Stars Phase 3 at the Kowloon Park in Tsim Sha Tsui to be completed in the first half of 2021 featuring 32 sculptures of local comics characters, bronze handprints of 30 distinguished local comics artists, works of a total of 30 local emerging or recommended comics artists, and workshops for local primary and secondary students ; and

  • Ani-Com Park at the promenade and open space near Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai with 36 sculptures of local comics characters. Its opening period is extended to end December 2021.

Both Ani-Com Park and Avenue of Comic Stars Phase 3 provide dedicated mobile app with augmented reality (AR) function for visitors to take photos with the comics characters. Open for FREE visit.
